The Crew Survival System (CSS), designed in conjunction with the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, is a two-person, 48 hour modular Survival Ruck with “Bug Out Bag,” functionality. Designed to replace legacy aircrew survival kits weighing 80 lbs, the CSS kit weighs just 23lbs. The bag and its contents were thoroughly reviewed for efficiency and effectiveness, splitting the kit into 3 modules. Using a combination of US MIL-SPEC, NSN, modern upgraded survival aids, and MATBOCK’s Emergency Medical Aviator Bag (EMAB), LSI significantly reduced weight and bulk while maintaining protection of the bag’s contents.
